Fears VS Dreams

FEAR:

that I will never live up to my own expectations

DREAM:

that my children will never face a fear that they cannot overcome

Today is #wearTWLOHA day!  On March 30th, six years ago, Jon Foreman wore the first ever TWLOHA shirt on stage.  Today, we are having a celebration.  We are celebrating our stories, and taking the time to show that we are not alone.  Today is a day to show that we are all fighting together, and to invite others to fight with us.  Today is the day to wear your TWLOHA shirt.

Meet Hannah! Who I am: My name is Hannah, and I’m in my junior year of college at Lawrence Technological University. Despite changing my major a few times (first architecture, then biomedical engineering), I’m studying psychology and plan to get a Master’s in Social Work after graduation. I really enjoy traveling and want to go to Greece and Australia. Some of my best memories are from last summer when I spent a month in China teaching English to middle school children (and walking along The Great Wall was phenomenal, until I got sick from the heat). While I’m at TWLOHA, I work with the street team, answer mail, and help Danielle and Jess with administrative tasks around the office.Stuff I love: The list of things I love is long and varied. I love my little sister Sammy-Jo; she brings a smile to my face, no matter what. There’s also my cat, Sparrow-boy. I love horses and coffee and rain and Winnie the Pooh (Tigger wins my heart). I always appreciate songs with good lyrics, and Go Radio, Bon Jovi, Framing Hanley, Keith Urban, and Anberlin all have songs like that. I love to read and have been reading a lot of Young Adult Lit lately (Sarah Dessen, John Green, Ellen Hopkins, and Suzanne Collins). And although I might not want to eat all of them at the same time, my favorite foods are taco salad, sauerkraut, and sushi. Why I’m here: I’ve always wanted to do work to break the stigma associated with mental health. Because I’ve struggled myself. Because there are people I love who are struggling. Because I believe it is important to tell people that they are not alone, that hope is real, no matter what has happened. I love answering messages and email every day, offering hope to strangers I may never meet and knowing that in some way, I am making a difference.
